Long-term Health Insurance
A
temporary limited health insurance or also known as travel health insurance
is generally split into short-term with a maximum duration
of up to 1 year (tariff options 365)
and long-term up to 3 and 5 years respectively (tariffs BASIC and PRO).
Both options have a worldwide coverage so can be used all around the globe. The premiums are flat daily or monthly rates depending on the selected tariff. They adjust to the benefits and the duration of the policy. A short-term insurance normally has to be taken out previous to the departure; exceptions exist for long-term policies.
Short-term Health Insurance
… does ONLY cover illnesses that emerge during the insured stay or journey abroad for a maximum period of up to 12 months.
Excluded are benefits regarding preventive care (check-ups), pregnancy treatments and birth; dental treatment just pain relieving in case of emergency.
On the upside a temporary limited health insurance can be taken out instantly and directly on our website with the possibility to print out a certificate of health insurance right away. Everything without a medical examination or unnecessary bureaucracy!

And Caution!
Even if this all sounds pretty good, temporary limited insurances have strings attached and just cannot replace an unlimited private health insurance.
The catch is the temporary limitation that merciless steps in after
the maximum contract period. This can even happen during
an ongoing treatment! The additional costs for the (subsequent)
treatment have then to be borne by oneself.
When the trip lasts longer then expected one could find oneself without
health insurance cover! The switch to a private comprehensive plan
is bound to a medical risk assessment and could lead to higher rates or in
the worst case a rejection.
If you are unsure about the length of your journey or about which solution is the right one for you we would love to help you!
